What is the better option; South America or the Caribbean?

South America.

This is the fourth largest continent in the world. The atmosphere greatly varies as the continent is very large. The climate is wet and humid predominantly. Chile is the desert region with a dry atmosphere but the highest temperature of 110ᵒF is marked in Argentina while the wettest place in Colombia with 350inches annual rainfall. Ocean currents, winds and geographical location influence the climate.

Gathering a few attractions out of a ton is not so easy. Argentina has the Los Glaciares National Park which encompasses the largest ice cap, Lake Argentino, Magellan Subpolar forest and Patagonian Steppe. The Pantanal in Brazil, the largest wetland in the world is accessible only by plane or boat. Colca Canyon in Peru is popular for stunning views. The Atacama Desert in Chile, Angel Falls in Venezuela the highest waterfall in the world, Amazon Rainforest the largest rainforest in the world and Machu Picchu in Peru are some of the other must-visit attractions in South America.

Cost of living changes with the country. Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia are the least expensive countries in South America with the cost of living less than $35 per day. All other countries cost more than $40 per day.

South American hotel experiences are unique and always luxurious. Every hotel boosts something extra-ordinary like Inkaterra in Mach Picchu.

South American Cuisine is a collection of fruits, veggies and meats, savoury or sweet. Ceviche, Arepas and Empanadas are the most popular foods.

The Caribbean.

This is a collection of 7,000 islands surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. It is generally a tropical one. The highest temperature is above 100ᵒF is a few areas but during winter months it drops below 60ᵒF. The Atlantic hurricane season runs through June – November which is unsuitable for travels. As the Caribbean Islands are surrounded by sea, the changes in sea level and Atlantic hurricanes influence the climate.

Unlike South America, you will have to sail in boats to reach the attractions as they are in separate islands. Beach destinations are the most popular. St. Lucia boasts Sulphur Springs, great hiking trails in Piton Mountains, volcanic peaks and sunbathing spots like Reduit Beach. To see the largest barrier reefs in the world you must visit Turks and Caicos. Antigua is an island with historical sites like Nelson's Dockyard and Betty's Hope and amazing beaches like Galley Bay and Half Moon Bay. Barbados, Curacao, Guadeloupe and Anguilla are the must-visit Caribbean Island to witness marvellous attractions.

Generally living in an island is expensive than a mainland. The monthly cost for a couple is around $2500 in the Caribbean.

The hotel experiences of the Caribbean always go on with sandy beaches like in St. Vincent, Caicos, St. Martin, St. Lucia and Antigua islands and jungle hikes like Dominica.

Islands are usually rich in seafood. Large fish and shellfish are served as delicious dishes. Savoury flavoured rice and chicken, goat stew, roast pork and jerk are the most popular foods in the Caribbean among locals and foreigners.
